A need is a necessity. another answer: a "want" refers to something that you would prefer to have, what you see as a good rather than a bad. A "need" refers to something that is absolutely necessary to your health (both physical and mental). You may not want to eat salt or take insulin (if you have Diabetes), but they are necessary to your health.

I would say desires are like wants, but they are not always tangible

please answer my question when you need sth or someone is because you must have them in order to live or to do something else; when something is nessesary; but if you want something is just to have it and you can also live without it, is the desire of something... do I explained myself?
