multistage is used because the expansion of high pressure steam will be gradual and as a result the rotor wont vibrate.suppose we have only 1 stage of blades in a turbine, hence all the steam will expand in the given stage and the speed of the rotor will be in high range around 30,000m/s, which is very difficult to control and operate the turbine.

Rankine cycle is used in steam turbine

What is a reaction steam turbine?

Steam turbine is when a device that has the extract thermal energy from pressurized steam. It is used to do mechanical work on a rotating output shaft. The steam turbine was invented by Sir Charles Parsons in 1884.

How TO generate electricity from steam?

To generate electricity from steam, a steam turbine is typically used. High-pressure steam is directed onto the turbine blades, causing the turbine to spin. The spinning turbine is connected to a generator, which converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy.

What are the types of bearings used in a steam turbine?

main two type of bearing used in steam turbine:(1)thrust bearing (2)general bearing

What is the difference between back pressure steam turbine and condensate steam turbine?

In a back pressure turbine all available energy from the inlet steam is NOT used to generate power; steam exhausts at a tangible pressure and is then used for, usually, heating or chemical processing. In a condensing turbine, all the inlet steam does mechanical work right down to the lowest pressureafter which it is condensed in a heat exchanger

How does nuclear fission spin a turbine?

Nuclear fission generates heat which is used to produce steam. The high-pressure steam spins a turbine by expanding through its blades. The turbine is connected to a generator, which converts the kinetic energy from the spinning turbine into electricity.

What is used to make steam into electrical energy?

A turbine.

How does steam turbine works?

A steam turbine works by using high-pressure steam to rotate turbine blades connected to a shaft. The steam expands through the blades, causing them to turn and drive a generator to produce electricity. The used steam is then condensed back into water and recycled in a closed-loop system.

How do you make electricity out of steam?

There is a type of electrical generating machine called a steam turbine. Steam is used to make the turbine spin. The turbine contains magnets, and the moving magnetic fields, as they intersect wires, generate electricity.

Which type coupling used in steam turbine?

Membrane-type flexible coupling is used in steam turbines.

What is kenotometer?

A kenotometer is an instrument used in steam turbine condensers to measure the vacuum in the steam space of the condenser. The vacuum achieved by the condenser has significant influence on the efficiency of the steam turbine.
