∙ 12y agoThe direction of the current flowing through it must be changed after every half rotation. Otherwise, when the north pole of the coil comes near the south pole of the magnet, there will be attraction between them and the coil will stop rotating.

∙ 14y agoYou need to reverse or shift the polarity of the magnetic field, either in the field winding or in the armature winding, in a DC motor, in order to maintain rotation. If you did not do that, the armature would rotate to the point of closest north-south alignment, and it would stop there.
