What is a Pressure regulator valve?

A regulator is simply a valve with a preset pressure point that causes the valve to open and close. A pressure sensor (a diaphragm with an adjustable spring) is on the side of the valve that the pressure you want is on. When the desired pressure (we will use 50psi) is reached, it causes the diaphragm to expand against the spring. The diaphran is connected to the valve and when it expands, it closes the valve, letting no more pressure to build. when you flush a toilet or turn on the sink, the diaphragm contracts opening the valve wider and wider until enough water is flowing in to raise the pressure expanding the diaphragm to close the valve. the diaphragm is just like a ballon, the more pressure, the more it expands. the set screw on most regulators puts more or less pressure on the diaprham raising or lowering the amount of pressure needed to move the diaphragm enough to close the valve. do not confuse the regulator with the pressure switch on a pump system. they are not the same. the job of the regulator is to keep constant pressure in your system. the pressure switch on pumps works about the same but has two preset pressures. the first to turn a pump off when the desired pressure is reached and the second to turn it back on. the off pressure is always higher then the on pressure by about 10psi or your pump would be constantly turning on and off.

Installation of the drain pipe for the temperature and pressure relief valve?

It is the drain for the Temperature and Pressure relief valve (T&P valve, or TPV). It's function is to release pressure from the water heater if the pressure or temperature of the water exceeds preset limits. Do not cap off the pipe, or remove the T&P valve or alter it in any way. Doing so could cause serious injury or death! If you notice water dripping or running from the pipe, call a plumber to check it.

What is the name of a device that equalizes hot and cold water flow to prevent temperature fluctuations?

It is called a pressure balancing valve, usually used in shower applications. Also a preset temperature mixing valve could be used depending upon what you need the device to do.

The running pressure of a liquid-cooled engine is controlled by a?

Coolant pressure begins to rise above 0psi as coolant temp increases. The pressure cap on the radiator or elsewhere will contain this rising pressure until it reaches the preset spec. written on the cap. Then a relief valve opens, and coolant is vented to the overflow or the ground to maintain pressure. Usually about 15psi.

What is difference between pressure reducing valve and pressure relief valve?

pressure relief valve relief the excess pressure which is developed in the syatem, while pressure reducing valve reduces the pressure and supply it to the system.

How do you adjust valve train on 2000 ford focus sohc?

You don't. They're preset and no adjustments.

How does a pressure relief valve work?

A pressure relief valve works by automatically opening to release excess pressure within a system when it reaches a predetermined level. This helps prevent damage or failure of the equipment by relieving the pressure before it becomes too high. Once the pressure decreases to a safe level, the valve closes again.

Does the heater core have a pressure release valve?

no pressure release valve

What is high pressure valve?

A pressure valve is usually installed on water systems to prevent excess water pressure from destroying fixtures or other plumbing components. When the pressure exceeds the valve ratings the valve opens and releases water/pressure from the line.

Why does the pressure valve keep opening?

Too much pressure or defective valve.

What is the small valve in the center of the radiator pressure cap?

pressure-relief valve

Can you adjust the pressure on a hot water baseboard heating system?

Yes, add or remove water. Add to increase and remove to decrease. Use the autofeed valve to do this. Lifting the lever allows city water pressure into the system. Lowering the lever puts it back to its limiting setting. Most auto feed valves have a pin under the cap that can be adjusted by screwing in the top or unscrewing the top. This adjusts the preset pressure. Never go over 25 pounds or you will discharge the pressure relief valve.
