What is the difference between a command driven interface and a graphical user interface?

The are several main differences between a Command Line Interface (CLI) and a Graphical User Interface (GUI).

First, a CLI application typically expects keyboard input, usually at some sort of "prompt," and has little or no "pointer" support, while a GUI application typically has icons and other elements that can be activated with a mouse or touch.

Secondly, a CLI application can only output text to a low-resolution buffer, and this text may only have a small number of foreground and background colors, and may blink or be underlined, depending on the terminals capabilities. In contrast, GUI applications provide a graphical view into the application's state, and uses icons that can be activated by the keyboard, mouse, or touch to control the application.

Finally, CLI applications have to depend on the host's font capabilities, which usually means that the text cannot be displayed in italics, or use a variety of different fonts at once, and so on. GUI applications are able to render anything that the programmer is capable of writing in code, offering a much richer user experience.

As a bonus answer, CLI is not harder to work with, it simply requires a little more familiarity than GUI. Sometimes, using a CLI can save time over using a GUI, and system administrators would do well to learn how to use the CLI for systems they use often in order to resolve low-level problems in the operating system, and to automate tasks that would take longer in a GUI. The biggest difference is that CLI don't use graphics.. Also in CLI you manually have to enter the command whereas in GUI you may have buttons and menu.. CLI does not supports Mouse..
