If you replace a corrupt hard drive on an IBM T-60 will you have to reinstall XP and programs and files?

I'd hate to say this, but most likely, you have to. However, you can try this first.1. Install the new hard drive in the computer without removing the old one.Download Ubuntu Linux:http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloading?release=desktop-lts&arch=i386&mirror=http%3A%2F%2Fmirrors.acm.jhu.edu%2Fisos%2Fubuntu%2F&debug=&download-button=1. Burn a Ubuntu ISO file to disk on another machine, or buy a magazine from a bookseller. If you buy a magazine disk, make certain it's a live disk, not an install disk.2. Reboot your PC. Have the CD in the drive.3. Try to open the old hard disk. If it opens, it's the boot sector that is the problem. If not, the whole thing is dead. If you can't access the drive, this trick won't work.4. Drag and drop everything to the new drive. If you can't get everything, get your own files (excluding the system files)5. Shut down Ubuntu by clicking the power button, and click Shut Down.6. Remove the old drive, from HD Bay 1, and move the new drive from HD Bay 2 to HD Bay 1.7. Start up the system. If it still won't load, oh well.
