A fuel pump inertia switch is a safety feature that most of all street vehicles these days have, what it does is incase in a vehicle accident it shuts fuel pump down and will not allow it to pump fuel until it is reset, sudden fast or hard jolts may also trip switch. And since you are on a Ford question site, if your looking for this part it is located ussually on passenger side up under dash close to floorboard just pull back piece of carpet and ready inertia switch and if not there, lokk in trunk.
