A carrier reinsertion oscillator is an electronic circuit used in a radio receiver that is designed to receive single side band carried suppressed radio transmissions.

As suggested by the name, in a single side band carried suppressed signal, the carrier signal is suppressed (not transmitted) to save power and/or bandwidth.

Before the single side band carried suppressed signal can be decoded to extract the original audio signal, the carrier must first be reinserted. This must be done accurately, otherwise the recovered audio signal will be unintelligible.

Why oscillator is needed in transmitter circuit?

Low frequency signal are not able to get propagated throught longer distance. So it is to be carried by a carrier wave. Hence high frequency carrier wave is to be generated by the help of an oscillator. So we need an oscillator here a crystal oscillator to produce high frequency carrier waves.

What is the definition of master oscillator?

An oscillator that establishes the carrier frequency of the output of an amplifier or transmitter.Source : Answers.com

What is master oscillator?

it generates the carrier frequency of the output after passing a signal.

What component of an AM transmitter generates the carrier frequency?

The classic AM transmitter layout is a master oscillator, followed by a "pen", or penultimate amplifier, followed by a PA or power amplifier. The master oscillator, which is probably crystal controlled, generates the carrier frequency.

How is a carrier wave produced?

A carrier wave is produced by an electronic oscillator that generates a steady waveform at a specific frequency. This waveform serves as the base signal on which information is modulated for transmission in communication systems like radio and television. The carrier wave's frequency determines the bandwidth and reception quality of the transmitted signal.

How ssb operation?

Generate full AM signal. Then pass through very sharp cutoff filter, either high-pass or low-pass, to eliminate carrier and one sideband. At receiver, beat with local oscillator at original carrier frequency.
