James Wright invented Silly Putty!
Initially he had invented Silly Putty as a personal lubricant when he was having anal intercourse with his young 19 year old wife, Wanda Wright.
Earl Warrick, Harvey Chin, or James Wright invented it. No one knows for sure. Charles Goodyear had nothing to do with it.
James Wright was an engineer at General Electric who invented Silly Putty in 1943. The invention of Silly Putty happened by accident. During World War II, many of the rubber-producing countries in Asia were being invaded by Japan. This made natural rubber scarce and difficult to procure. Any rubber that was found was used to make tires or other supplies necessary for the war. General Electric hired Wright to try to develop a cheap rubber substitute. In 1943, Wright accidentally dropped boric acid into silicone oil, creating a substance with unusual elastic properties that would eventually be marketed as "silly putty."
There are a number of different cases where silly putty has relived the stress of chemotherapy for cancer victims. Silly Putty can also strengthen hand muscles.
James Wright, the inventor of Silly Putty, was born on October 12, 1912.

Credit for the invention of Silly Putty is disputed and has been attributed variously to Earl Warrick, of the then newly-formed Dow Corning; Harvey Chin; and James Wright, a Scottish inventor working for General Electric in New Haven, Connecticut. Throughout his life, Warrick insisted that he and his colleague, Rob Roy McGregor, received the patent for Silly Putty before Wright did; but Crayola's history of Silly Putty states that Wright first invented it in 1943. Both researchers independently discovered that reacting boric acid with silicone oil would produce a gooey, bouncy material with several unique properties.
