It depends on a lot of factors - if the stepper is stopped between steps, the efficiency is zero.

Earlier this week, I had a small nema23 size motor driving a pump and got about 20w of mechanical power out for about 40w DC in, or about 50% under optimal conditions.

Why use dc motor not stepper motor in robot?

DC motors use PWM (pulse width modulation), which can easily increase or decrease the power to the motor, thereby increasing or decreasing the motor speed by modulating the width of the pulse. Stepper motors have fixed frequencies, thereby having fixed motor speeds. As a result, the speed of the stepper motor cannot be controlled when the load is increased.

Is stepper motor ac or dc motor?

neither. DC locks the rotor of a stepper stationary, pulses applied to a stepper's windings in one order advances it while in the opposite order reverses it. steppers typically have 4 to 6 windings.

What are stepper motors used for?

A stepper motor (also referred to as step or stepping motor) is an electromechanical device achieving mechanical movements through conversion of electrical pulses. Stepper motors are driven by digital pulses rather than by a continuous applied voltage. Unlike conventional electric motors which rotate continuously, stepper motors rotate or step in fixed angular increments. A stepper motor is most commonly used for position control. With a stepper motor/driver/controller system design, it is assumed the stepper motor will follow digital instructions. One important aspect of stepper motors is the lack of feedback to maintain control of position, which classifies stepper motors as open-loop systems

Transfer function of stepper motor?

A stepper motor has a transfer function. The exact function is determined by a motor's individual characteristics. The speed at which it is capable of repeating a position is based on its geometric configuration and size.

How can you rotate the stepper motor to different angles?

A; stepper motor can rotate to various angle if the resolution is infinite then the rotation will be infinite. however practically is set to step a certain angle per step

You could purchase a new stepper motor driver at a Home Depot. They offer new stepper motor drivers at great prices and the new stepper motor drivers are very durable.

How stepper motor?

A stepper motor is a type of electric motor that is brushless. The "question" isn't actually a question, so I'm not sure what else you would like to know about stepper motors.

Is a stepper motor with feedback loop a servo motor?

No, stepper and servo motor are by mechanical design two different types of motors.

Is a stepper motor easier to maintain than a normal ac motor?

A stepper motor is more easier to maintain than a normal ac motor. Ac motor is a seal motor under pressure. A stepper can easliy be open and the interwheels can be fixed and cleaned.

Why you use the call delay in case of interfacing of 8085 and stepper motor?

You need to introduce a delay after changing a driver output line for a stepper motor because the stepper motor requires finite time to respond to the command to step. Hundreds, if not thousands, of instructions can be executed while the stepper motor completes its step.
