It is possible you are thinking of the biogenetic law proposed by Ernst Haeckel. His idea as an evolutionist was that the human embryo, as it develops goes through various stages which resemble its alleged evolutionary past, such as a fish stage with gills etc.
Unfortunately Haeckel did not let the facts get in the way of a good story. This idea has been demonstrated to be utterly fraudulent. The drawings of embryos which Haeckel produced were changed to support his theory although in actual fact human embryos never have gill slits for example. Every creature is destined to be exactly what it was designed to be.
So, in short, this is no proof of evolution but a recognized fraud. It must also be stated this is not merely a creationist position but was recently exposed further by evolutionists themselves. It is also not correct to refer to these alleged changes as mutations. They were regarded as stages of embryonic development. == "There are several human atavisms that reflect our common genetic heritage with other mammals. One of the most striking is the existence of the rare "true human tail" (also variously known as "coccygeal process", "coccygeal projection", "caudal appendage", and "vestigial tail"). More than 100 cases of human tails have been reported in the medical literature. Less than one third of the well-documented cases are what are medically known as "pseudo-tails"" see link 29+ Evidences for MacroevolutionHuman embryos have a tail that measures about one-sixth of the size of the embryo itself. As the embryo develops into a fetus, the tail is absorbed by the growing body. see link Wikipeida TailHaeckel's hypothesis may not have been 'fraudulent', but it has certainly been proven wrong. The foetus tail is interesting but it is not evidence of evolution. Fortunately evolution does not need this proof.
The mutation theory is basically stating that mutation is one of the major factors that cause evolution. The mutation has to be a beneficial mutation, meaning that it has to help the survival of the organism that got the mutation. The mutation causes knew genes and diversity which can spread quickly throughout a population and eventually change the frequency of alleles (causes mutation) Remember the mutation has to be beneficial to the survival of the organism.
If you think you have a large genetic mutation, consult your doctor.
mutation means change in genetic structure..where as crossover means interchanging the genetic structure of two or more chromosomes..
Cancer- certain mutations (changes) in a cell's genetic material may cause that cell to reproduce with out control.
frameshift mutation: deletion
Together, genetic mutation and natural selection determine in what 'direction' evolution proceeds.
A mutation is any change in the DNA. Mutations provide the genetic variation that evolution by natural selection needs to select from.
A mutation is a change in the DNA sequence of an organism. Mutations are sources of genetic variation, and they can drive evolution by introducing new traits that may be advantageous, neutral, or harmful in different environments. Over time, beneficial mutations can be selected for, leading to changes in the population and contributing to the process of evolution.
mutation and genetic recombination.
Yes, gene mutation within a species is considered part of microevolution. Microevolution refers to small changes in the gene pool of a population over a short period of time, such as mutations, genetic drift, and natural selection, that can lead to changes in the traits of a population.
Mutation, Natural Selection, Migration, and Genetic Drift.
genetic drift, mutation, natural selection, and migration
Basically, random mutation and natural selection. With a little genetic drift and gene flow thrown into the mix. Evolution, the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms.
Evolution is the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms. By mutation, genetic drift, gene flow and natural selection.

These four factors can effect ways evolution occur: 1.) Mutation 2.) Selection3.) Gene Flow4.) Genetic Drift
genetic drift, gene flow, mutation, natural selection and nonrandom mating ( sexual selection ).
