The Giant Panda is shy, but there are times they become very vocal. During the few days of their mating season, they will use calls to help locate a mate in the wild. These can be anything from honking sounds, to a bleating sound, very much like a goat kid or lamb, which is a friendly greeting. They also, huff, bark, roar, and growl, but not as most people think of bears roaring, and growling. The cubs will also make small croaking and squealing calls to the mother.
