My green wing mccaw LOVES meat. She loves steak in particular. I also feed her chicken bones which she scrapes all the marrow out of. This is good for a mccaw. I am not sure about the steak - but she is a hook bill and I am not sure how she differs al whole lot from a hawk or eagle. So at this point she has eaten meat for a few years...in decent quantities with no isse. And she BEGS BEGS BEGS for steak. She Loves it.
Scarlet Macaws, like all parrots, will eat a wide variety of fruits, nuts, seeds, blossoms, etc. I remember watching a nature documentary that showed wild Scarlet Macaws gathering on a river bank and nibbled at the soil! Apparently it was for the salt and nutrients in the soil.
