All well known multi meters come with operating instructions. If you don't know how to use one, I highly recommend you don't! Messing around with electricity can get you a severe shock or even kill you. Check with an electrician if there are no instructions with your meter. regards gl347

Switch the dial to "Ohms" (there may be several ranges of Ohm measurements, choose the smallest range), place the probes across the object to me measured and if the needle pointer on the dial moves there is continuity. Remember to switch off the meter afterwards as Ohm readings drain the battery in the meter.

Either with a test set of bulb and battery, or using an Ohmmeter

Set it to measure resistance. If the resistance is less than infinity, the circuit is continuous.

Set up the multimeter to read resistance (disguised as an ohmmeter).

A good diode reads low resistance in one direction, and high resistance

with the meter leads reversed.
