One of the problems with this is that over the long run if prices are kept this low the manufacturers for these hybrid vehicles will lose money. This means that in the future, prices for hybrids will increase as their demand increases. Also once a battery runs out, it can cost the customer around $10,000 to get a new working battery, adding to the total costs.
