yes a core plug is a metal disc in the engine block about the size of a 50p coin these are meant to be a weak spot in the cooling jacket of the engine and in theory will give way if the coolant freezes instead of cracking the engine block
On the 1.25l fiesta engine, the rear block core plug (behind the flywheel) is 41.6 mm.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I was looking at fordparts.com and the picture shows ( 3 ) different options . The core plug on the passenger side of the engine block nearest the front ( closest to where the alternator is ) Or you can have two block heaters on the passenger side of the engine block using the front and the center core plug , or it looks like you can have a block heater on the drivers side of the engine at the rear core plug . One thing they all have in common is that the heating element faces UP on a 1991 Ford F-150 351 / 5.8 liter V8
their are 4 on top of the engine under drivers seat 4 more are located on the underside of the engine behind the oil sump
Theres a leak. Probably a hose but could be radiator or heater core, water pump or engine core plug
Underneath the A/C evaporator core case which is in the engine compartment
There will be 3 core plugs on a 4.3L V6 Vortec engine: 1 each side of the block and one at the back, in the bellhousing area.
Non moving parts of an engine, to name a few are engine block oil pan oil plug spark plug rocker cover intake/exhaust manifold core plug ignition coil oil filter cylinder head Hope that helps some, ~Ashley

Expansion plug, or core plug.
If it has a block heater it will be installed on the passenger side of the engine , in place of one of the freeze plugs ( core plug , expansion plug etc )
Assuming this is the pinto with the distributor on the left side of the engine Look in to the engine compartment no 1 plug lead is the one on the furthest back on the right of the distributor as you look at it
