I believe the Tata is the cheapest car in the world let alone India and that are made in India.

I believe they us a CVT or Constant Velocity Transmission so there are no gear changes used.

The CVT adjusts via a belt and moving pulleys to change the drive ratios. Simple and some more expensive cars are using them as well. Nissan has them I believe on some of their smaller cars.

Not zippy or fast but cheap and easy to drive
