Exotic materials are needed to make the car. Ex. Car battery requires exotic metals. These metals are shipped from all over the world thus creating emissions.
Some other drawbacks would be, little torque limiting the towing capaciry. Not the greatest hiway milage. And finding shops that work on them. My shop is one of only a handful of non dealerships that regularly work on them.
Aside from that, there are a great deal more pro then cons I`d say.
