Is it better to have the over drive button switched off or on in an 88 Camry?

The car needs to go into overdrive unless you are towing something heavy which makes it shift between overdrive and non overdrive. It is better to allow the car to shift into overdrive.

Purpose of overdrive and to use overdrive for Hyundai Atos 1.0?

Over drive is always to reduce engine RPM at Med to high speed cruise thus saving fuel. If this is an Automatic car just ignore the Overdrive and let it work. If this is a manual car use over Drive when maintaining a steady speed and the car will not "Labour" to do so.

Should the over drive in a car be on all the time?

For most drivers, Overdrive should be used full time. Its designed to reduce the amount of effort the engine needs to maintain speed. Whenever a lot of shifting is taking place, its recommended to only used Drive. Roads with a lot of hills, curves, or heavy traffic areas should not use overdrive to prevent damage to the transmission. Also, disengage overdrive whenever towing. There is not enough torque generated by the engine to tow while in overdrive. Towing while overdrive is engaged can cause damage to the engine and transmission.

How do you use overdrive on a Toyota 4Runner?

I believe overdrive should automatically be enabled on any car. Overdrive allows a car to drive at fast speeds with low engine input (low revs) resulting in better gas mileage. The downside is that you lose torque. You should be able to turn it off for things like climbing mountains and using engine breaking to go down them. Unless you turn it off, it's already on.

When should you turn on the overdrive in a 99 Kia Sephia?

You should leave the car in overdrive at all times, unless driving conditions dictate otherwise. The overdrive is intended to optimize fuel consumption.

Why does my 88 Chevy Celebrity eurosport stall when it is in overdrive at low speeds?

You Are Putting To Much Load On Your Engine. When It Starts To Stall Drop It Into Regular Drive. Also You Need To Drive At Slow Speeds In Regular Drive. At Speeds Say Around 50 MPH You Can Use OD. By Allowing Your Car To Slug Around In Overdrive You Are Doing Your Transmission In Amoung Other Things. Your Car Was Not Designed To Run This Way. Stay Out Of Overdrive At Slow Speeds. This Should Solve Your Problem. If This Does`nt Have A Good Tune UP.

When should you drive with overdrive off?

When you want quick acceleration, or when you're driving at speeds lower than 3rd gear, which is around 35-45 mph depending on your car.
