Why will plastic products become more expensive in the future?

Plastics are made mostly from petroleum, and petroleum is getting more expensive. It is a non renewable resource, in the sense that there is only so much oil in the oil wells, and when it is pumped out, it does not get replaced. When will petroleum finish?

According to current statistic, theoretically, petroleum will be finished very soon. But practically, petroleum will never finish. When the remaining petroleum decrease, the prize for petroleum will increase. Crude oil prize on 1861 was $0.49, and prize on June 2008 was $139. At a point where the prize of the petroleum is high enough, human will search for alternative energy source. For example: biofuel. Biofuel which was expensive to do research and used by human will not be expensive anymore when the petroleum price is high enough. So, the demand of petroleum will decrease very soon when the prize increase. Alternative resources will replace petroleum in future, we will not need petroleum anymore. This is what could be said as a logic reasoning, however when we consider the huge mass production revolution history, the only result we could come out with is that the petroleum is the source of our modern existenceIt is difficult to compensate or to relay on other energy source similar to the Black Oil due to our high populations and unlimited needs. Therefore the time of riding horses and camels will come back again and the wars and conflicts are main characteristic of that decade Softech
