In my experience schoolchildren have not become lazy. Education has, I think, become less effective over the last thirty years or so, but the reasons for that are complex. Other people may have different views. Joncey I totally agree with Joncey. The Educational System in both the U.S. and Canada is lax at best. Teachers seldom stay after school to help those students that are having difficulties (like they use to do up until the 1970's.) The Educational System has not had it pounded into their head enough that some children learn quickly by reading instruction while other children need to be shown. This method has nothing to do with whether one child is smarter than another. I am appalled that children are coming out of schools and can barely read and the spelling is atrocious and that means the School Board isn't doing their job!
There isn't a single reason for why some school children may appear lazy. Factors like lack of motivation, distractions, stress, or poor time management skills can contribute to a perceived lack of effort. It's important to address underlying issues and provide support rather than labeling them as lazy.

It depends on what tests. School, driver etc. tests because they get nervous or become lazy.

Lazyness depends on the child but there is some truth in the idea that school kids are disease prone. In school children are in close proximity to each other and therfore contageous diseases can spread more rapidly than in a less dense populous.
Children can become rowdy, distracted, and disruptive when there is no homework, as it keeps them focused on school and learning.
you have to go to a special school
There is a history of children walking to school in groups that dates back to the 1880s. The tradition means that elementary school children become responsible and capable by the time they've reached 5th or 6th grade. The older children lead the younger children in what has become a sustainable practice. -David Levinger The Mobility Education Foundation
