In ancient India the system of education was through Gurukuls where the students were sent for education. All the students had to live in the gurukul and study there only. There were different gurukuls for boys and girls and the medium of education was Sanskrit or Hindi. The gurukuls are still there spread all over the country imparting education in the ancient style but with the British coming to India, the education system changed a lot into western system or English style of education.
