You need to read for facts and details instead of fun and enjoyment. When I read textbooks in college I kept a running outline of what I read as I read. I wouldn't read for fun while classes were in session even if I was in the middle of a book. You need to think and learn the details/facts for each class.

Reading for pleasure means that you are reading because you WANT to. For example instead of watching TV or playing video games/shopping you are reading a book such as Harry Potter or Twilight. Reading for learning can still be pleasurable but it may be for school or if you want to lear more about Andrew Jackson you would read a biography about him.
