Where was J.K. Rowlings education?
Actually, her real name is Joanne Murray. She wrote under the
pseudonym J.K because her publisher thought that the target
audience (young boys) would be reluctant to read a book written by
a woman. She legally has no middle name so she adopted the K. (for
Kathleen) from her paternal grandmother.
Her parents to wanted her to become a secretary so she attended
the University of Exeter beginning at age 18 (1983) and studied
French. As part of her French program, she lived in Paris for a
year. After college, she stayed in London and worked at several
jobs, including at Amnesty International.
Most of The Sorcerer's Stone was written in cafes on
napkins!
