Depends on the medicine. Should have instructions. Some you take as soon as you remember you miss, some you wait until the next dose. Missed means you did not take it at the regular time you are supposed to take it. For Birth Control pills, take the dose as soon as you remember and the next dose at its scheduled time.
If you have missed your pill the day before, you should only take the missed pill as soon as you remember, and today's pill at the usual time, as directed in the FDA insert that came with your birth control pills.
It is good that you read the intructions but if you miss one pill an dthen take it next day it will not be a problem it happend to me . if you read the instruction they will tell you that after 12 hrs passing the time to take the pill you have more risk. but take the forgotten pill and the other one a regular time if it do not pass the 12 hrs.

If you took the pill but late its absolutely okay. If you missed a day then make sure you take two the next day but dont have sex if you didnt take the pill.

Yes. The longer you go without the pill, the less effective. My answer could be more effective if the amount of time your wife has been taking the pill is known.
A "pill organizer" or "pill dispenser" organizes pills by the time of day and/or the day of the week, so that medication is not missed or overdosed (due to forgetting whether it has been taken as prescribed).

If you haven't made any mistakes in using the pill, and if you didn't start this cycle late, then there are no special worries. If you started the pill late this cycle, then you may be at risk for pregnancy; a missed pill in the first week increases the risk that a follicle will begin to form -- that you'll ovulate. Use a back up birth control method for seven days.
