The theme for "The Boar Hunt" by Jose Vascelos is that recklessness and greed can cause ones own demise. In the short story four companions, named after their nationality, went off in a major hunt for boars. They killed a few boars however due to their greed, they killed more and more and that reckless behavior helped drive the boars to kill the group of hunters by attacking the trees which supported their hammocks. This leaves us with the only Survivor, the narrator, who realizes that their deaths was caused by their own actions, thus teaching him a lesson; about not killing animals just for the pleasure.
