Health education and social hygiene are rather vast' terms. Authorities differ as to the proper content of at course in health instruction However; the course of instruction will normally include the different aspects of health education and hygiene. There should be careful correlation between the principles of hygiene on the one hand and the laws of hygiene and sanitation on the other. Such a course if Study will logically include the following topics:

(i) Food and its importance in the development of' body;

(ii) Water, air, rest, physical exercise recreation, Sleep etc.

(iii) Abnormal conditions and their bad effects on health;

(iv) Causes of various ailments and diseases, ways and means of their prevention ;

(v) Mental health,, sex hygiene, domestic hygiene, community hygiene, first aid etc. ;

The specific experiences which constitute the health curriculum should not be fixed for all times to come, but should of course very with the changing needs of the time and with different communities. In certain situations diet water and other topics may be more important- But in others, particularly in big cities, traffic safety may have to be given special emphasis. In rural areas, the problem of controlling contagious and communicable diseases may be of greater importance than that of the urban areas.

So at the time of imparting instruction to the pupils emphasis should be given on the practical elementary problems which Concern their health, as for example : diet, care of the teeth, sex impulses etc. and the public problems such as : drainage disposal, milk and water supply and general control of diseases, The organization of the material for health

Instruction should be dominated by local, social and civic needs and not by the logical development of any particular branch of science. However, health education is not to be a subject apart, but it should permeate every subject in the curriculum.
