Definitely need a degree with a very high GPA, preferably in a related area such as Biology. Also will help if you've been doing freebie work at a clinic or some such social intervention place. If you are white (especially male) you are screwed for the most part. If you can get a ton of recommendations from existing physicians that may help. It may get a bit easier to get in since many are opting out of the medical profession in anticipation of Obama's plan to socialize the whole enchilada.
