Black heads are a type of acne. This is a common name for a certain kind of pimple some people get, usually on their face; the name refers to the fact that the bump you can see on the skin looks like a small black dot. Some skin specialists say you should not squeeze a black head and that you should instead use a medication that will dry it up, but many people prefer to just get rid of the black head (since this and other pimples tend to look unattractive, especially on the face). If your hands are clean (wash them thoroughly) and you squeeze gently, you can remove most black heads fairly easily; but be sure to also wash your face with a mild soap, so that the pores on your face will not become infected. And if you cannot get the black head to "pop," you may need to get medication that treats this very common condition. A number of over-the-counter medications are widely available.
