Two different US one dollar coins were made in 1921. One is a PEACE dollar the other is a MORGAN dollar. A Peace dollar is worth more than a Morgan, it has the word PEACE on the rock on the reverse of the coin the eagle is standing on, it's worth at least $70.00 and the Morgan is $33.00-$39.00 but only IF the coins are in collectible condition.

A U.S. silver dollar with the national motto ( E-PLURIBUS-UNUM ) on it, dated 1897 is actually called a MORGAN (1878-1904 & 1921) dollar, not a Liberty dollar. All Morgan dollars have this motto. It's a very common coin. Assuming the coin is circulated and has no mintmark, an average retail value is $31.00-$39.00.

Current retail is about $3 for the coin's silver content, which is worth more than its numismatic value.

Please note that ALL U.S. coins carry the motto E Pluribus Unum - check your pocket change!! - so its presence does not help to identify a coin.
