What are the origins of 'bona fides'?
The phrase 'bona fides' refers to good faith. One of its common uses is in the establishment of eligibility for employment. In essence, the employer asks for proof of an applicant's qualifications in the way of credentials, documentation, and references. Another of its common uses is in the posting of jobs. Employers need to be able to show that whether or not they succeeded, they conducted their hiring process in such a way as to attract the disabled, minorities, and veterans.
