What education and training is required to become a gerontology?
Gerontologists often work with other professionals, such as
occupational and physical therapists, dietitians, or lawyers, to
improve the quality of life of elderly persons. Nursing homes,
senior citizens centers, and other community facilities also rely
on gerontologists, who may conduct research on aging and the living
environments of older persons. Many gerontologists are involved in
education. They may teach at a junior college, provide education to
the elderly, produce educational materials, offer counseling for
the elderly and their families, or serve as a consultant for
business, industry, and labor interests.
