I prefer the trimester system. It allows students to be exposed to more classes. Less material may be covered, but it is not that big of a difference--material is just covered faster. In my school, you don't have to spend any extra time reviewing for exams because they are taken at the end of each trimester. The trimester system isn't any more impersonal than the semester system. That depends on the faculty and the general attitude of the school.
