This depends on many factors, and a decision should only be arrived at after careful, thorough consultation with the student, parents, and a variety of educational staff members who know the student well. Will the decision to repeat a grade benefit the child in the long run? Is there any way for the student to get caught up, including extra tutoring, summer school, pull-out classes, etc?
