I'm sure you are. It's a big step, but college helps you make the transition. All the dorms have a junior or senior resident that you can go to if you need help or advice on just about anything, and college professors tend to treat you much more like adults than the high school hacks did. For example, if you just want to go to the bathroom, you just get up and leave. You don't put your hand up and ask, and you don't need a hall pass. Don't want to go to class? Don't go. You don't need a note from your mother that you were sick, although you might want to try and make up the work.
I think that's probably the biggest difference: you are suddenly responsible for managing your own time, and while that seems a scary responsibility at first you soon get used to it. Just don't leave all the school work till the last weekend of the semester. And your mom is still only a phone call away.
