For most students, the history classes are the best places to learn about history. Clearly the student is there each day and the history professor or teacher is there to answer questions.
Other places:
A. Libraries contain large volumes of history books; and
B. Museums are also great places to learn more about history.
The above three places are the most used & the most valuable for the ordinary student.
The best place to learn .NET is not online but actually in a classroom, this is especially true for beginners. There are a few sites that will offer courses, but they are not as in depth as a classroom.

The library
No college is needed. What you need to do is learn directly from a working planner. Start out as an assistant for a few years, learn the the business and then go out on your own. This is not something that you can learn in a classroom.
You can learn the the history of American Art by going online to the Best History Sites website. You can also choose to major in Art History at a local college.
For a formal education the University of Oklahoma is probably the best place.
The best place to take or learn how to be a medical assistant is at a nursing school, or you can try at hospitals. The sometimes have classes were you can learn about what they do and assist them.
