FIDM is a four year private college. They have associate of arts degrees, a bachelor of science degree and professional designation degrees. FIDM doesn't really fit into the category of a CSU or a UC because they are a speciality college. If you're wanting a career in the fashion, entertainment or graphic/interior design industries then it's a great school because it is so specialized :)
FIDM dosn't have a mascot. They're not like a mainstream CSU or UC. They're a specialized fashion college with other programs that focus on the graphic design and entertainment industries.
It is the best college in California but is neither of those I think it is a private school.
My friends graduated from FIDM and from what they told me, the school has a student activities center which has all different kinds of clubs and even volunteer gigs for students. What's even better is the clubs on campus are fashion and entertainment related and that's something you won't find at a traditional CSU or UC for sure (and they all look great on your transcript too!)
I'm sure there are lots of schools that have fashion design programs, CSU's and UC's but what's important is which schools have the best fashion design programs. Speciality schools like FIDM in LA have a huge advantage over CSU's and UC's because they are 100% focused on the fashion industry, have killer industry connections and the instructors still work in the field which is super important. Also the grads are super successful when graduating and that says a lot abou the school. Check out the school's iTunes app or their website and see what you think :)
FIDM is most definitely a college but what makes them different from other CSU's and UC's is they are a speciality college which specializes in the fashion and entertainment industries. They offer A.A's and have a killer bachelor of science in business management program. They also offer professional designation degree programs and advanced study programs.
For marine biology, the top 5 recommended UC and CSU schools are UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, CSU Monterey Bay, and CSU Long Beach. These schools offer strong marine biology programs, access to marine research facilities, and proximity to marine ecosystems for hands-on learning opportunities.
They both are colleges
The University of Southern California is a private school. The major public universities in California are the UC and CSU systems which include schools like UCLA and CSU-Long Beach. The University of South Carolina is a public school.

It has a higher ranking and is considered to be the best public school in the country, but in the end, it really depends on the intended major. If you tell me that, I can give you a better answer.

As far as I know, FIDM doesn't have an official school symbol or a mascot of sorts. Though I'm sure if one was created by a fashion student it would be pretty cool considering all that FIDM stands for!
