It is more impressive to have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and an Associate's Degree in Spanish, than a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a minor in Spanish.

Associate vs. Minor

This question is somewhat like asking whether cake with icing is tastier than banana bread.

When seeking a Bachelor's Degree, the minor studies are an 'influence' on the main study, and should not be interpreted as a specialty.

With an Associate Degree, you are specializing in a certain expertise, often with a more compact and intense schedule of study, without unrelated satellite courses.

Typically when you minor in a language you are required to take 16-22 hours of that language depending on the degree. (Liberal arts usually requires 22 hours.) If you are getting an associates you take just 16. Normally an associates looks better, though someone with a minor could actually have taken more hours.

The associate degree is a higher level of education. Typically, the diploma program does not meet the course and credit requirements of a degree. However, this does not mean that one is less important than the other. The importance is where the program leads one in terms of their overall career goals and objectives.

It's not that one is better than the other, but a question of which one leads you to our overall career goals and objectives. First define your career goals, then your path will become clear.

The bachelor's degree would be preferred by most employers. However, the associates degree does not mean you are worth less as an employee. Can you get bachelor's degree with a minor?

A lot depends on what the minor is. A minor in Spanish is likely to be more useful than a minor in Latin. Although if you decide to become a priest, the Latin might well come in handy. If you minor in music, maybe you could give lessons, play in a band. It depends on what kind of music and whether you are a good musician. I had a minor of criminal justice. I haven't done anything with it. Your question is not a bad one, but really too vague to get a very useful answer, I think. You might get a much better answer from your advisor or one of your professors. They certainly know more about you and probably more about the specifics of your situation.

How many credits can i use I have an associate degree how many different credits will I need for a second associate's degreeI will use all of my core classes and more from liberal arts degree?

The amount of credits that can be applied from one associates to another second associates would be strictly dependent on what area that second associates is in. For example, a Liberal Arts degree would do better with a second Associates of Arts in International Studies rather than in Engineering. Nonetheless, unless the second associates is in a specific practical field - Allied Health for example - why would you want a second associates degree. You would be much better off using your already accumulated credits toward a Bachelors Degree. I would recommend moving vertically and not horizontally. Viper1

Is an associates just your general requirements or what are minors and majors?

An Associates Degree is a 2 year degree.A Bachelors Degree is a 4 year degree.Your major is the specific course of study that you are concentrating on, such as Accounting, Business, Education, Engineering, etc. Associates seldom have minors, as there is a specific course list for the major and there is seldom enough time or elective slots to include a minor. A minor is a sub-concentration different than your major. One common occurrence is to minor in a foreign language. I have a major in Engineering Technology with a minor in Chemistry. I know someone with a major in Economics and a minor in French and Computer Science. The right combinations can be important to opening doors into specific job markets. In some cases, an Associates will go a long way toward meeting the basic requirements of the first two years of a Bachelor's degree. You should discuss with a guidance counselor what your ultimate goal is and how you can best leverage your time and the costs of education.

Can you earn more than one Associates degree?

You can, however I would make sure there is a specific reason for doing so. For example, your career goals have changed, and the new associates degree will lead you to your overall career goals and objectives as in, an associates in business to a registered nurse. Otherwise you are much better off pursuing the bachelor's degree.
