Abby was the maid of Elizabeth and John Proctor's home. John had an affair with Abby and Elizabeth found out and threw her out of their home. John was good to Elizabeth after that and he never went back to Abby even though she wanted him.
Elizabeth Proctor Proctor Tituba
John Proctor is tired of Elizabeth being suspious after he commits adultry and it has been 7 months since that last happened. At the end of this act Elizabeth goes to jail.
John Proctor doesn't tell the court what he knows initially because he is trying to protect his reputation that has already been tarnished. Elizabeth attributes his reluctance to tell the truth to his guilt over his affair with Abigail Williams and his fear of being exposed as a sinner in the eyes of the community.
Elizabeth had probably been dead for years before John was beheaded.
One theme is through jealousy inwhich Abigail williams is in love with john proctor and is willing to kill his wife by accusing her of being "Bewitched" so this way Abigail can take her spot as John Proctors Wife. another theme of love in the crucible is John Proctor's love for Elizabeth even though he was unfaithful to her in the past but he cleary makes it up to her by looking past his reputation and telling the court of his affair and trying to avoid Abigail to please his wife Elizabeth. Elizabeth Proctor also shows clear devotion to John by being able to lie in the court when asked if John Proctor has ever been in bed with Abigail inwhich she lies so he may have his reputation clear and to keep him from being another victim of the court.
Anything could have happened to the girl Elizabeth. She could have been kidnapped or given something positive like a promotion.
