I am a Driving Instructor - highest qualified in Australia.
You have to have a passion and zeal for the work like no other. I am more qualified in my profession than a dentist or a doctor or lawyer yet, I own no home and just pay the bills.
I am no fool but 2 things guide the financial returns of this industry.
1. Public perception of instructors value
2 Instructors passion to help others
Hope that helps

Supply and demand, or quality and demand. Driving schools and driving instructors set their own prices. If you are a good driving instructor with a good reputation or one that offers a uniques service such as you are the only Chinese speaking instructor in an area with high demand for Chinese speaking instructors then you can charge more.
Students often pay a set price to a school for the classroom sessions and 10 hours of road sessions, if that student isn't ready or is unable to pass the road test at this point then an hourly rate is payed for additional instruction either to the school or to the individual in car instructor.
How much money you make is up to you, how many hours do you want to work in a day/week/year. Plus Driving instructors make money taking the student for his test and renting his car to the student for the test.
A traffic violator school instructor makes something different in one state than they do in another. This is not a universal payment.
