There are many different types of fraternities and sororities across the United States from social to academic to honorary. The following is a list of the social fraternities and sororities across the country. The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is the governing body of 26 National Sororities. The North American Interfraternity Conference (IFC) is the governing body of more than 70 National fraternities. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body for the "divine nine", or the 9 historically African American fraternities and sororities. The National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO) is an umbrella council for 21 historically Latino/Latina fraternities and sororities. The National MultiCultural Greek Council (NMGC) is an umbrella council for 11 nationally multicultural fraternities and sororities. There are also numerous local organizations (they only exist on 1 campus) throughout the United States.
