The only qualification a parent needs is that they be the custodial parent of the child who is to be homeschooled. However, if the child receives instruction from someone other than the parent, that person needs to be a certified child educator. The same thing applies if a parent who is homeschooling their children decides to teach other children as well...the parent who is teaching those additional children would then need to have a teaching certificate.
Qualifications vary depending on the legislation in each state. A good resource is The Homeschool Legal Defense Association: hslda.org/laws
No, the parent(s) do not need a high school diploma, as long as they know the responsibilities of homeschooling their child and can fulfill those responsibilities and are dedicated, that is all that is required. This is coming from a grade 8 student who is home-schooled by her mother which did not even pass grade 8. Hope this helped! :)
No. A child's education is the responsibility of the parent, and a child cannot be homeschooled without the parent registering them as a homeschool student with the local government or school district. A parent must give their written approval of whatever education their children are recieving.
Having not graduated from high school is not a demonstration of a lack of intelligence or learning.
You are describing a truant and in some cases the parent and child would have to go to court.
In most cases, no. This may vary by state. Home School Legal Defense has info on all the state laws.
Absolutely zero, in any state. Anyone can do it.
you have to be a teacher to homeschool your child , you MUST have attended college for so many years under child devolpment. I ADVISE YOU IF YOU DON'T ANYTHING ABOUT IT DON'T HOMESCHOOL YOUR CHILD! Actually for grades K-8, in Tennessee, one parent is required to stay home to do the schooling and must have a high school diploma. You are required to log an attendance record which can be downloaded and printed. You also have to submit an intent to home school paper to your local superintendent's office before a certain date. There are many resources available to help parents with schooling their children. They vary from traditional textbook style teaching to online and DVD schooling. With so many forms of help available, a parent can easily teach a subject they're not the most knowledgeable about.
Possibly, yes.
Yes, depending on the laws in your state. In some cases a child can be considered a truant if the parent did not send a letter of intent to the school board. This can be a costly problem for some, because in extreme cases the courts can become involved.
No, you can't home-school your child on Sims 2. You can only send them to school.
They have to take the state issued test to move into the next grade
No a custodial parent can not kick a child out of school if the child is still a minor. If the child is 18 years old, the parent may kick them out.
Yes. Your parents can say that they are homeschooling and then hire a certified teacher to teach you. Parents who are also certified teachers may homeschool their own children as well. However, in most places this is not required and parents may teach their children without any degree or legal certification.
