The prison needs to evacuate from bombing. Corrie rides with other in a bus without seats to the outskirts of town. She spots Betsie's chestnut brown bun and she thought somehow she would get to betsie, which she did. They got on the train together. They had been in Scheveningen for four months without seeing each other. They arrived at a new prison named Vught. Betsie and Corrie's names were called in roll call one morning. People told her that since they got a pink slip it meant that they were going to be released. They ended up not being released. Betsie, looking weak and fragile was sent back to the barracks. Corrie, on the other hand, was sent to do work at Philips factory, where thay made radios. After guards left and everyone was supposed to be working, they talked and ate. The person watching was a prisoner forman, so he told people not to put the radios together right. but corrie being a watchmaker found joy in the job and had the days quota done by noon. Then more explosons came, so they had to evacuate again, this time they went to Germany.
