No. You need to know the language of our country in order to serve in the military.
Btw, it's English ;-).
MMM how rude was that answer. Ok no you cannot take the ASVAB in Spanish in the U.S. But there is however a territory where 95% of the population speaks Spanish. Puerto Rico. I do not know if they stop giving the ASVAB in Spanish but they do have resources to help you get prepare for it. So most likely it will be in Spanish. After a person passes the ASVAB and is recruited there in Puerto Rico they are then sent to the language school in San Antonio where they teach you the basics of English before sending you to boot camp.
So before answering rude answers do a homework. in case you did not know yes Puerto Rico is part of the U.S. Spanish and English are the official language but Spanish is the main spoken. And Yes Puerto Rico is very close to become the 51st state and that's when the ASVAB will only be in just English.
The short answer is YES. However, most applicants must pass a basic English portion that shows they have basic English skills test that includes reading, writing and speech. Elderly LEGAL residents may be exempt from the English skills portion of the test. Those 50-54 years old who have been LEGAL residents of the US for 20 years (either all at once or throughout their lives in bits and pieces), 55-64 year-olds who have been LEGAL residents for 15 years, and 65 year-olds and older who have been legal residents for 20 years are exempt from the English skills portion of the test.
Those taking the test in any language other than English must bring their own interpreter for the interview portion of the process.
NOTE: The United States does NOT have an official language. English is the official language of government business, but it does NOT apply to the public at large. The question of an official language in the US has been brought up seriously seven times, including twice by our founding fathers. At one point German was considered as an official language. The question of an official language was tabled during our country's founding because at the time German, French, and English were widely spoken.
A physically disabled person still has to take the citizenship test, but if possible, the test center will accommodate the person by providing them with special testing facilities or materials where necessary. A mentally disabled person, on the other hand, might still have to take the test. If they are unable to do so, but they are the dependent of one who has become a citizen, they will most likely be allowed to stay in the country.
