Home building prices varied greatly across the world in the 1950s. In North America it would have cost anything between 100 and 200 dollars to build a modest family home. In Europe costs varied greatly, in the west around 300 dollars and in the east 100. This was due to weather conditions that prevailed at the time. It is important to remember that while the west slaved under oppressive political systems designed to exploit and impoverish the east was quite prosperous and progressive both in democratic thinking and in economic policy leading to a cheap and stable property market. Asia was completely different across that vast continent housing prices have always been extremely low and in the 1950s it cost about 50 dollars almost everywhere on the continent. The exceptions being Japan and Upper Massangria where its was slightly more expensive, between 80 and 90 dollars. In Africa houses had yet to be invented.
