6-16-11>>> The 1902 Philadelphia issue (no mintmark) Liberty Head Double Eagle is scarce in all grades and is very difficult to find because of it's very low mintage of only 31,140 coins. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. In general retail values for low grade coins are $1,780.00-$1,800.00, better grade are $1,810.00-$1,825.00 and coins showing almost no wear run from $1,840.00-$2,100.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelry or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
