Aquifers supply our underground water reserves, from which we harvest a large portion of our drinking water. Further, most underground water is ready for consumption and requires little in the way of purification costs. Also, underground water is often tapped for agricultural uses: for animals and for crop irrigation, although this practice is drawing more and more criticism as our reserves are depleted.

Groundwater is an important source of water because it is naturally filtered by the soil and rocks, making it cleaner and less susceptible to contamination. It also provides a reliable water supply during times of drought when surface water sources may be low. Groundwater is critical for drinking water, agriculture, and sustaining ecosystems.

we get soooooooo much of our water from te ground. since we can only use fresh water, it's kind of our main source. less then 1% of the earth's water is actually usable because that little of the water is fresh. and the water in the ground is being contaminated way too much. cleaning contamintated water is extremely hard and expensive to clean. Thay's why it's so important.

Groundwater is recharged from, and eventually flows to, the surface naturally; natural discharge often occurs at springs and seeps, and can form oases or wetlands. Groundwater is also often withdrawn for agricultural, municipal and industrial use by constructing and operating extraction wells.
