Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a colorless, odorless gas that is naturally present in the Earth's atmosphere and is produced by human activities such as burning fossil fuels. It is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless gas that is toxic and can be produced by incomplete combustion of fossil fuels or wood. It can be harmful to human health when inhaled in high concentrations.

Carbon dioxide is CO2 consisting of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. It is a natural product of combustion and respiration.

Carbon monoxide is CO, consisting of one carbon atom and one oxygen atom. It can form as a result of combustion and it is a deadly toxin.

Carbon Monoxide is actually 1 carbon atom with 1 oxygen atom (hence the mono in front of the oxide as mono means one). Carbon Dioxide is 1 carbon atom with 2 oxygen atoms (hence the di in front of the oxide as di means two).

The next substance in that order is Carbon Trioxide which is 1 carbon atom with 3 oxygen atoms (hence the tri because tri means three).....etc...

The only difference between the 2 is that you breathe out carbon dioxide and plants make that into oxygen. Carbon monoxide, however, is odorless, colorless, and you cant feel it. You need carbon monoxide detectors to detect it. Carbon monoxide is dangerous because you can die from it if you breathe too much of it. If it is in a room, you have to leave as soon as possible. Please improve me if i am wrong.

When you exhale do you breathe out carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide?

When you exhale, you breathe out carbon dioxide, not carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide is a natural byproduct of cellular respiration in the body and is transported to the lungs where it is exhaled. Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas produced by incomplete combustion of carbon-containing fuels.

Does plants change carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide?

No, plants do not convert carbon monoxide (CO) to carbon dioxide (CO2). Plants are able to absorb and store carbon dioxide during photosynthesis, but they do not have the ability to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide is typically produced by incomplete combustion of carbon-containing fuels.

What mass of carbon monoxide must react with oxygen to produce 0.69g of carbon dioxide?

To find the mass of carbon monoxide needed, first convert the mass of carbon dioxide to moles using its molar mass. Then, use the balanced chemical equation for the combustion of carbon monoxide to determine the mole ratio between carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Finally, convert the moles of carbon dioxide to mass of carbon monoxide using its molar mass.

What is the balanced equation for nitrogen monoxide plus carbon monoxide equals nitrogen plus carbon dioxide?

The balanced equation for the reaction between nitrogen monoxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO) to form nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) is: 2NO + 2CO -> N2 + 2CO2

What compound does sodium carbon dioxide and carbo monoxide make?

The reaction between sodium and carbon dioxide does not produce a specific compound. Similarly, sodium does not directly react with carbon monoxide to produce a specific compound.

How does molecule of carbon monoxide differ from a molecule of carbon dioxide?

Carbon monoxide is CO and carbon dioxide is CO2.

Is carbon monoxide CO2?

No, carbon monoxide is CO. CO2 is carbon dioxide.

What is the benefit of a catalytic converter changing carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide?

Converting carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide is beneficial because carbon dioxide is less toxic to humans and the environment than carbon monoxide. This conversion helps reduce the harmful effects of carbon monoxide emissions on air quality and human health.

Can carbon monoxide detectors detect carbon dioxide?

No. Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are two different substances with different properties.

Is there more carbon in carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide?

There is proportionally more carbon in carbon monoxide than there is in carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide, CO, has a one-to-one ration of carbon to oxygen. Carbon dioxide, CO2, has a one-to-two ration of carbon to oxygen.

Which new gas is formed when carbon monoxide is oxidised?

Carbon dioxide is formed when carbon monoxide is oxidized. Carbon monoxide reacts with oxygen in the air in the presence of a catalyst to produce carbon dioxide.

Why is carbon monoxide harmful but carbon dioxide is not?

Carbon monoxide bonds with the hemoglobin in red bloods cells and renders them useless. Carbon dioxide does not do this.

What happens when oxygen reacts with carbon monoxide?

When oxygen reacts with carbon monoxide, it forms carbon dioxide. This reaction releases energy and is often used in combustion processes. Carbon monoxide is oxidized to carbon dioxide in the presence of excess oxygen.
