We have, the world has. Thanks to fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) which have transformed the world through the Industrial Revolution. Unfortunately they have a serious side-effect which we didn't notice till recently. Burning them adds old carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere and causes global warming.

Global warming refers to the long-term increase in Earth's average surface temperature due to human activities, such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, which release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This leads to the trapping of heat, causing the planet to warm up and resulting in various climate changes, such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and disruptions to ecosystems. Addressing global warming requires reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to renewable energy sources.
