Apart from the obvious, that water is made of hydrogen and oxygen, not much. That is the mystery and beauty of the way things work chemically. Water is a liquid and is essential to life as we know it. The need for water is independent of our need for hydrogen and oxygen. If you need water and all you have is hydrogen and oxygen with no way of turning them into water, you are up the creek.

Chlorine, atomic number 17, is a deadly poison in its natural gas form. yet there are many compounds containing this element that are needed for life.
